Clydebank Murder Probe Police In Fresh Appeal

Detectives investigating the murder of a man who was found seriously injured in his own home more than a week ago have issued a fresh appeal for information. John McCallum, 49, was discovered in his property in Meldrum Street, Whitecrook, Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, at about 9.30pm on December 18. He was taken by ambulance to Glasgow's Western Infirmary, where he died two days later. Police launched a murder inquiry after a post-mortem examination Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are reviewing CCTV images from the area. Detective Inspector George McAllister said: A team of experienced detectives are assessing information which has been gathered from the door-to-door inquiries; however, I would like to ask the local community to get in touch with us."Whilst the feedback has been encouraging and there have been several sightings of Mr McCallum on Thursday December 18, there are still many people who have yet to speak to us and I would like to appeal to them direct to get in touch - even if they think the information they have is not important, please let us make that decision, the information could be significant as part of the ongoing investigation and help us find whoever is responsible for Mr McCallum's death.'' Police said they were in close contact with his family, who were devastated by the loss'' andtrying to come to terms'' with what had happened.
