Detectives in Clydebank are appealing for information after a man was robbed by men he shared a taxi home with in the early hours on Tuesday.

Around 5am hours a 29 year old man was assaulted by two other men after getting out of a taxi around 200 yards east of the BP Garage on Glasgow Road in Yoker.

They also robbed him of his mobile phone and a sum of cash.

Police say the victim didn't know the men before meeting them in Glasgow City Centre and agreeing to share a silver private hire taxi back to the Yoker area.

Following the assault the two men ran off in the direction of Millbrae Crescent.

The victim managed to flag down another private hire taxi which took him to Yoker where police and an ambulance were called.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and released after treatment.

The first man is described as around 5ft10, with a heavy build and wearing a black t-shirt, blue shorts and sunglasses.

The second man is described as around 5ft6 and wearing a dark hooded jacket and dark jogging bottoms.

Detective Constable Craig Bate from Clydebank CID said: “Officers have been carrying out enquiries, including examining CCTV footage, and several cars and taxis can be seen driving through the area around the time of the incident.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the early hours of Tuesday morning to contact police on 101 or alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
