Blaze breaks out at Clydebank industrial estate

A specialist unit was called to the scene because of the potential for hazardous substances.

A fire, which broke out at an industrial estate near Hamilton Street and John Knox Street in Clydebank, has been brought under control.

Several fire engines are still on scene, following the blaze which broke out around 6 o'clock last night. Reports from the scene suggest several units were caught up in the fire.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to reports of a building on fire at 5.44pm on Wednesday, October 23 on Hamilton Street.

“Operations Control mobilised a number of appliances including a specialised appliance due to potential hazardous substances.

“Fire crews remain in attendance at the scene.

“There are no reports of any casualties and are working to make the area safe."
