Sunday afternoon favourite Gina belted out the legendary James Brown’s “I Feel Good” to start the #HeadphoneChallenge which will see thousands of Scots stick on their headphones and sing an iconic song for a very good cause.

Gina said: “I love singing along to ‘I Feel Good’ when I hear it coming though the headphones – although I don’t often share it with all my friends and contacts on social media! But I’ll go to any lengths to support Nordoff Robbins Scotland’s Get Loud Headphone Challenge, even if I get a wee teasing about it.”

Pledging her support for the Music Therapy charity, Gina then nominated fellow Clyde 1 Presenter Grant Thomson to have a go at the Headphone Challenge.

The campaign is off to a flying start, with names such as DJ Jim Gellatly, comedian John Bishop, actor Luke Kempner and singer Jack Savoretti all taking part.

Anyone can get involved – all they have to do is don headphones, video themselves singing and then share on social media using #HeadphoneChallenge and #GetLoud, nominate friends, family and co-workers to have a go, then donate by texting LOUD13 £3 to 70070.

Carolyne Nurse, Fundraising Director for Nordoff Robbins Scotland, said: “We are facing unprecedented demand for music therapy as more people recognise the positive impact it can have on such a wide range of challenging health conditions. We need to raise £50,000 so we can increase the therapist team: the Get Loud Headphone challenge is a fun and funny way to support our work. Let’s get #GetLoud #HeadphoneChallenge trending.”

Nordoff Robbins Scotland helps over 400 people with various conditions every week. The Scottish charity’s dedicated music therapists can offer both one to one and group sessions in their centres across the country. With music therapy being increasingly recognised as a powerful tool in changing the lives of both children and adults, a donation to Nordoff Robbins Scotland can make a huge difference.

£60 could buy a music therapy session, £600 could purchase a collection of instruments, and £1,600 could buy music therapy for a whole year.

There are plenty of other Nordoff Robbins Scotland events for people to get involved with. Massaoke (a mass karaoke session) is going to be held at St. Luke’s, Glasgow on 8 September. The famous BodyJam is becoming ClubJam for Nordoff Robbins Scotland at the Barrowlands on the 9 September. If a more relaxed sporting event is a better fit, supporters can get involved at Nordoff Robbins Scotland Golf Day at Dalmahoy Country Club on the 11th October.
