Glasgow’s latest brunch spot has opened its doors today in the city’s west-end.

The restaurant, named Serendipity, can be found at 657 Great Western Road, and will serve seasonal lunch dishes as well as freshly baked cakes seven days a week.

The courses at Serendipity will change with each season, giving regular visitors the chance to try something new.

The first full menu was revealed today, and boasts dishes which range from overnight oats to thick-cut French toast, breakfast skillets and more.

The café owner, John Traynor, said: “By prioritising locally sourced and fresh produce, the menu offers some brunch classics as well as serves as a playground where our chefs use their knowledge and passion for food to create some new customer favourites.

“We hope that the familiarity and creativity in our menu will keep customers engaged upon their visit to Serendipity.

The café will have brunch classics, as well as some new favourites

John opened his first successful Italian-style deli, La Pastina, on Byres Road in August 2021.

Prior to opening his own eateries, John worked as a head chef in popular Glasgow restaurants including The Finnieston and was the personal chef to ex-Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.

He’d also cooked for former Celtic manager Neil Lennon.

“La pastina will always be my first and will always hold a special place in my career.

“As I gain experience and my passion for food and business grows, I look forward to allowing Serendipity to naturally build its own identity, but there will always be an essence of La Pastina’s identity in everything I do.”

Customers cannot pre-book a table at the café, instead, walk-ins are encouraged.

“We aim to craft not just meals, but moments for customers.

“A cafe that provides a warm, welcoming atmosphere that aims to be a place of comfort that customers will want to return to.”

He added: “There are many great brunch places in Glasgow and on Great Western Road, but we have big plans for Serendipity,” before teasing: “we’ll leave it at that for now…”

Serendipity will open Monday to Friday from 8am until 5pm, and from 9am to 5pm at weekends.
