The Mum of murdered Airdrie schoolgirl Alesha MacPhail has launched a charity in the 6-year old's memory.

'Alesha's Beaming Smile' will organise memorial days and hold seasonal events for families.

Earlier this year, Georgina Lochran held a family fun day in the town.

Speaking on Facebook, she said: "Alesha's Beaming Smile is a Non Profit Voluntary based unregistered Organisation.

"This group was set up in memory of my daughter Alesha McPhail who was murdered on 2nd July 2018 at 6 years old while visiting her dad and grandparents on the Isle of Bute she was only 3 days into her summer holidays.

"Since then i have fought struggled but most importantly been determined to give back to my community and out with for all the support, help, courage and strength you have giving me through this horrible time and to keep Alesha’s memory alive and be remembered for the happy bubbly bright little girl she was.

"As most will be aware a memorial fun day took place on 29th June 2019 to mark the one year anniversary of Alesha and I vowed then to make that an every year event.

"Here at Alesha's Beaming Smile we offer to arrange seasonal activities throughout the year.

"Every year we will hold one huge day in memory of Alesha to mark her anniversary everything we do will be completely free to the public to attend and any donations will be greatly appreciated and will go towards materials and other improvements towards Alesha's Beaming Smile.

"In the future we hope to arrange day trips for families that have been nominated by the public."
