Police investigating a fire at a Tory councillor's home in Strathaven have released CCTV images of a man they want to talk to. Officer's previously stated they believed accelerant was poured on Councillor Graeme Campbell's cars before being set alight, and the fire then spread to the Strathaven home.

It was the third time in as many years the South Lanarkshire Council representative has had his house set alight.

Detectives want to speak to the man in the images as they believe he may have information regarding last month's incident, which happened shortly after midnight, Saturday 19 June, in the Forthrose Gardens area.

DCI Martin McGhee said: “Our enquiries have been ongoing since this incident occurred and as part of our investigation we are releasing CCTV images of a man we wish to speak to.

“I’d ask the person himself or anyone who recognises him and who can help us identify him, to contact officers.”
