CCTV images released by detectives after man assaulted on bus in Glasgow

Police have released CCTV images of two men they want to trace after a man suffered a serious injury on a bus in Glasgow.

The 45 year old victim was struck by a bottle on the number 9 First Bus service travelling from the south side on Saturday 30 January 2016 at around 1800 hours.

Detectives believe that the two men shown in the images may be able to assist them with their enquiries.

The first man is described as white, with red hair and a beard. At the time of the incident he was wearing a green and white Adidas tracksuit top, a light coloured skip cap and carrying a ruck sack.

The second man is described as a white and at the time of the incident, he was wearing a heavy work style jacket bearing high visibility stripes, a light coloured hooded top and a winter style hat with ear flaps attached. This man was also carrying a rucksack.

The men were both observed to leave the bus close to Oswald Street, near to the Broomielaw.

Detective Constable Nikki McPherson from Govan CID said: “This was brutal attack that took place on public transportation. This assault left a man seriously injured and the other passengers in a state of shock.

"It is important that we trace the persons responsible as soon as possible. We have issued images of two men that we wish to speak to in connection with this incident.

"Anyone with any information as to the identity of these men is asked to contact police. We are also asking that anyone who witnessed this incident and is yet to come forward and speak to police, please get in contact.
