" Incredibly frightening" robbery at shop in Cumbernauld
Cash was stolen on Wednesday night in Condorrat
Detectives say a robbery at a shop in Cumbernauld on Wednesday night was "an incredibly frightening experience" for the staff member involved.
No-one was injured in the robbery on Main Road in Condorrat, Cumbernauld.
Around 8.25pm on Wednesday, 18 December, 2024, a man entered the premises and threatened a staff member, forced them to open the cash register and made off on foot with a sum of money, heading towards Condorrat Ring Road.
Officers attended and a search of the area was carried out. Enquiries remain ongoing to identify and trace the suspect.
The man is described as white, of heavy build, and was wearing a black jacket, with a green or grey hoodie underneath, with the hood up. He also wore a black face covering, blue surgical gloves, black trousers and white trainers. He spoke with a Scottish accent.
Detective Constable Scott Archer, of Coatbridge CID said: “Fortunately no-one was injured as a result of this incident, but it was an incredibly frightening experience for the staff member involved.
“Our enquiries are ongoing, and we urge anyone who may have seen a man matching this description or noticed any suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
“I would also ask anyone with private CCTV, doorbell or dashcam to review their footage and share anything that may assist our investigation.
