Clyde 1's charity Cash for Kids is making sure children across Glasgow and Ayrshire have a summer they won't forget.

Lady Clark and Lucy Fuller from Arnold Clark assessed the three finalists of the Sir Arnold Clark Summer Fund and have awarded three of the groups as they couldn’t choose one.

The Kurdish Women’s Group in Glasgow will receive £5,000, with the GK Experience receiving £2,500 and Ayrshire Communities Education and Sport (ACES) receiving £2,500.

The Kurdish Women's Group supports asylum seekers and their children.

Gesya Salih, secretary of the group, said: "I was very very happy, I was over the moon when they told me I was a winner.

"Our women are all asylum seekers or refugees, they can't afford to have a trip or a nice time during summer time while on a very low income.

"It will make a very positive impact to our members."

Eddie Hawthorne, CEO of Arnold Clark, said: "It's really down to our ability to give a lot of young groups and young people something to do over the summer, because that's when they really need it.

"A lot of the charities that we are helping are all about helping young kids, giving them activities, giving them a different lifestyle experience, and that's really what the money's all about.

"We never gave anything last year, so we're just going to give everything to the charities this year so the Kurdish Women, the GK Experience and the Ayrshire Communities are all worthy recipients this year."
