A man has admitted assaulting another man in front of children.

Marc Kerr, 28, lashed out at Mahmood Al-Hamdani in Glasgow's Carntyne on September 18, 2020.

The thug stated: "Go back to your own country" before barging into his victim and punched him on the face.

Kerr also threw a bike which Mr Al-Hamdani was using to defend himself at him which ricocheted off another person.

Kerr pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Mr Al-Hamdani and Samah Froukh.

He also admitted having a blade in a public place without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority.

The court heard that Mr Al-Hamdani and Miss Froukh were walking with four young children under the age of seven.

Kerr approached Mr Al-Hamdani from behind when he made the racist comment.

The victim did not respond and attempted to walk on but was tailed by Kerr who repeated the comment.

Prosecutor Heather Naismith said: "Kerr pushed Mr Al-Hamdani then punched him towards his cheek and chest which caused him pain."

Mr Al-Hamdani then picked up a bike to use as a shield which was removed from his grasp by Kerr.

Kerr threw it at Mr Al-Hamdani striking his upper body which then bounced towards Miss Froukh - striking her hip.

Mr Al-Hamdani then defended himself by punching Kerr to the face then pushed him away with his feet.

Kerr raced to a nearby parked car where he brought out a "metal scraper" as the victims fled the scene.

Paul Mullen, defending, told the court that Kerr is locked up awaiting sentence for a separate breach of the peace matter after pleading guilty at Lerwick Sheriff Court.

Sentence for the Glasgow offence was also further deferred until next month by Sheriff Joan Kerr who granted him bail for the matter.
