A hotel operator will be sentenced today after admitting safety failings over a fatal fire at Cameron House on the banks of Loch Lomond.

Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard last week the blaze which claimed the lives of Simon Midgely and Richard Dyson in December 2017 could have been avoided.

Also that managers at Cameron House had been warned about their health and safety procedures.

Today, the company that owns the luxury Loch Lomond hotel will be sentenced for their part in the fire after admitting to charges under the Fire Safety Act.

It started after a night porter left a plastic bag of smouldering ashes in a cupboard next to newspapers and kindling.

Christopher O'Malley admitted breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act and will also be sentenced today at Dumbarton Sheriff Court.
