Nicola Sturgeon will update the Scottish Parliament later on any possible change to the self-isolation period.

It's as businesses in the supply chain report they are struggling with staff shortages.

Opposition parties are calling for the 10-day rule to be adjusted.

The First Minister will address Parliament virtually on Wednesday at 2pm to give an update on the Covid-19 situation as the Omicron variant sweeps across the country.

Last week Ms Sturgeon said she hoped to give an update on any changes to the self-isolation period, which is currently 10 days.

Doctor Pete Cheema is the Chief Executive of Scottish Grocers Federation.

He told Clyde 1: "We will continue to follow the rules and guidance around the Scottish Government's rules on exemption for self-isolation, but we do need help to reduce the number of days workers have to isolate.

"It is having a huge effect on our industry.

"People don't understand that this has had a knock on effect in terms of bringing food in, getting it on the shelves and these are the big issues retailers are facing."

People who test positive for coronavirus in Wales can leave isolation after seven days if they return two negative lateral flow tests on days six and seven."
