Workmen on the M74 have cut through vital phone and internet cables whilst doing repairs to the road at the Raith Interchange.
And now businesses at the Bothwell Industrial Estate have been left without connectivity.
The blunder happened yesterday at about 10am.
BT Opensource vehicles are at the scene, and are working around the clock to fix it.
Their spokesman said; "Engineers have been working to restore services following third party damage to copper and fibre cables during works.
"We expect our work to be mostly complete by tonight. They’ve installed a temporary fix to restore services, with permanent repairs to follow.
"We believe up to 50 local premises may be affected, most of them businesses."
Bullet Express has been affected and the office is now relying on two mobile phones for calls but cannot use the internet.
Managing Director David McCutcheon said: "We contacted our phone network provider who have told us it is a BT issue.
"Like any modern business, phones are a central part of it. Thousands of pounds is being spent now in order for us to operate.
"BT have been very sketchy telling us what happened but being told it won't be fixed until the 19th of May has knocked us for six."
A spokesperson for Scottish Roads Partnership, said: “We can confirm a BT cable was damaged at Bellshill Road Bridge, Uddingston, adjacent to the M74, yesterday. “The incident was immediately reported to BT and we understand BT engineers are currently on site carrying out repairs and hope to have this completed tonight.”
