Road closed in Blantyre as emergency crews fight bus fire

Traffic is being asked to avoid East Kilbride Road

There is an emergency road closure in place on East Kilbride Road in Blantyre, as fire crews deal with a bus on fire.

It is shut in both directions after the blaze on the single-decker was reported at around 12.30pm.

No one has been injured, but drivers are being asked to avoid the area.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 12.33pm on Thursday, 11 April, to reports of a single-decker bus on fire on the A725 East Kilbride Expressway.

“Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene.

“There are no reported casualties, and the crews remain in attendance."
