Tributes pour in for nine-year-old boy found dead in Lesmahagow woods

A nine-year-old boy who was found dead in South Lanarkshire was "loved by all", as tributes continue to pour in.
Emergency services were called to a wooded area near Abbeygreen Road in Lesmahagow on Sunday evening, but the boy, named locally as Jordan, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say that enquiries are ongoing but there are no suspicious circumstances.
He was a pupil at Woodpark Primary School in Lesmahagow, which shared advice for parents on how to support his classmates.

Debbie MacKenna, headteacher at Woodpark Primary School, said: “We are all deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Jordan, who was a valued member of our school community.
“Jordan was an energetic, fun-loving boy who was loyal to his friends and family, and was loved by us all. His radiant smile, his singing and dancing and his sense of humour lit up our school.
“We keep Jordan’s family and friends very much in our thoughts and prayers, and we will continue to support our school community at this very sad time.”
'Enquiries are ongoing'
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.50pm on Sunday, June 2, 2024, we were called to a report of concern for a child in a wooded area near to Abbeygreen Road, Lesmahagow.
“Emergency services attended but the nine-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing but there are no suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
