Bomb squad called to Bishopbriggs

A bomb disposal squad from Faslane Naval base has been called to Bishopbriggs.

They were called out after a suspicious item was pulled from the Forth and Clyde Canal near the Leisuredrome Leisure centre around 10.30 on Sunday morning.

The centre has been closed and a number of roads in the area have been cordoned off.

Police say further investigations are continuing at the scene.
