A bomb disposal squad has been called to Drumchapel after a grenade-type device was found within a house.

Police made the discovery after being called out to a house on Ledmore Drive at 5pm, but later announced it posed no risk.

The specialist unit was alerted to the scene at 6:30pm and the street was evacuated as a precaution.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We attended an incident at a property in Ledmore Drive in Drumchapel at about 5pm and while there we discovered what appeared to be some sort of grenade device.''

The spokeswoman said residents had been asked to leave their homes as a precaution while the EOD unit attended the scene.
