Body of man found in Glasgow flat while police investigated assault
Officers made the discovery while making enquiries into an assault which happened earlier in the week
The body of a man has been discovered in a flat in the Parkhead area of Glasgow.
Officers were originally called to Springfield at around 10.15pm on Thursday to reports of a man being assaulted.
The 38-year-old man in question was taken to hospital.
Two men, aged 17 and 40, were arrested in connection with the incident.
However, while investigating this assault, officers discovered the body of an unidentified man, with his death currently being treated as unexplained.
Police think the death is linked to the earlier assault, and a 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.15pm on Thursday, 15 August 2024, a 38-year-old man reported to police he had been assaulted in Springfield Road, Glasgow. The man was taken to hospital and two men, aged 17 and 40, were arrested.
"While conducting enquiries into this serious assault officers discovered the body of an unidentified man within a flat in Springfield Road. The death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing to identify the man and establish the circumstances of the death. A man aged 38 has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.
"At this time, officers believe the incidents to be linked."
