Body found in river thought to be missing Kilmarnock man

A body recovered from the River Irvine is believed to be that of missing 58-year-old Kilmarnock man Alan Galbraith.

A body recovered from the River Irvine is believed to be that of missing 58-year-old Kilmarnock man Alan Galbraith.

Police were called to reports of a man's body in the water near Dreghorn Road at around 2:20 on Saturday afternoon.

Although formal identification has still to take place, it is believed to be 58 year-old Alan Galbraith who has been missing from Kilmarnock since Sunday 5 February 2017. His family has been informed.

A post mortem will take place to establish the exact cause of his death, but it's not being treated as suspicious.

A full report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.
