A body has been found in a burn in the search for a man missing since last weekend.

A body has been found in a burn in the search for a man missing since last weekend.

Stephen Watt, 66, was last seen at around 11am on Sunday December 28 when he left his home in Lenzie, East Dunbartonshire, to go to the local shops.

Police said a body was recovered yesterday from Bothlin Burn and Mr Watt's family has been told.

A Police Scotland statement said: Formal identification has still to be carried out, however it is believed to be Mr Stephen Watt. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Relatives are aware and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.''
