Police Scotland say a body found in Falkirk on Saturday is that of missing Grangemouth teenager Kyle Johnstone.

An officer from the dog unit discovered the 17-year-old, who had been reported missing on Friday, during a search of Callendar Park.

He was last seen on Friday morning in Siblaw Place in Grangemouth.

The family have now been informed and have thanked the public for their messages of support.

Inspector Donna Bryans said: "This is a tragic loss of a young man’s life and our sincere condolences are with Kyle's family who have respectfully requested that they be left to grieve at this very sad time. Thank you to everyone who came forward with sightings of Kyle and shared our earlier appeal.''

His death is not currently being treated as suspicious and inquiries into the full set of circumstances are ongoing.
