A joiner is behind bars after being caught with £1.4m of cocaine.

Daniel Martin was held after a raid at his home in Blantyre, Lanarkshire last September.

A judge heard how the 35 year-old had been a “custodian” for the huge haul.

Prosecutor Blair Speed told the High Court in Glasgow: “He told police that he knew why they were there and that what they were looking for was in the kitchen.”

Martin went on to point out a shopping bag in a cupboard.

A total of 14kg of cocaine was seized. Some of it was as high as 82% pure.

Mr Speed said the drugs could potentially sell for £100 per gram.

Martin made no comment after being charged. His DNA also linked him to the crime.

The dad today/yesterday pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

It emerged he already had a high court conviction for assault in 2005.

Martin had been on bail, but judge Lord Mulholland remanded him in custody.

Sentencing was deferred until next month for reports.
