A man who murdered his brother by setting him on fire as he lay in bed on New Year's morning has had his bid to appeal against his sentence rejected.

27-year-old Blair Logan had been jailed for 20 years in August for the horrific attack which left his 23-year-old sibling Cameron dead and his girlfriend Rebecca Williams scarred for life.

His appeal was rejected by Lord Kinclaven and Lord Matthews at the High Court.

Blair had previously admitted to Cameron's murder and attempting to kill Rebecca, known as Bex, at the High Court in Edinburgh.

The 27-year-old poured petrol over the pair and set it alight as they lay in bed shortly after 7 on New Year's morning this year.

Blair had initially claimed to have been out running at the time before admitting his guilt to officers weeks later.

At the High Court in August, he was given a life sentence and ordered to serve at least 20 years.
