Biker seriously injured after crash in Barrhead

A biker is in a serious condition in hospital after a collision with a car in Barrhed.

The accident happened at around 2200 hours on Tuesday 26th April.

Police say a red Ford Fiesta was travelling south on Springhill Road with the intention of turning right into Park Avenue.

It stopped due to an oncoming vehicle from the north. Once the car had passed, the driver of the Fiesta began turning into Park Avenue when the collision with the motorbike travelling north happened.

The driver of the motorbike was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries.

He remains in hospital in a serious condition. The driver of the car was uninjured.

Sergeant Kenneth Canavan from the Greater Glasgow Divisional Road Policing Unit is appealing for any witnesses to the collision.

"We would appeal specifically to any drivers travelling north on Springhill Road who may have seen the vehicles to contact us."
