A 52-year-old motorcyclist's suffered serious injuries after a crash in Ayrshire last night

The Yamaha rider was hit by a Mini Cooper in Beith at half five - the female car driver was uninjured

It happened on the B737 Bypass Road at the junction with the B777. The road was closed for around two and a half hours to allow for crash investigation and recovery of the vehicles.

Sergeant Ian Thornton of Ayrshire Road Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the crash to get in touch.

“We are also asking anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the crash or anyone with dashcam footage or any other information which may assist to come forward.”
