A Bearsden woman is walking 5000 miles anti-clockwise around the mainland coastline of Britain over the next 12 months in memory of her late wife.

Tracey Howe always planned to tour the country with Angela before she died of blood cancer last year.

Tracey will be walking with her dog Poppy.

She told Clyde 1: "My plan is to talk to at least 5000 people, one for every mile and very kind people have been making little hearts for me for my journey.

"It's my intention to give a heart to each person I meet and talk to about Angela along the way.

"I want them to talk to me about their loves and losses too."

The challenge called "Tracey's trek" is going to raise money for five different charities including the Beatson cancer centre in Glasgow.

Angela worked as a nurse for decades with mental health patients.

Tracey will walk around 20 miles every day and her family and friends will meet her every night with her campervan, Priscilla, where she will sleep.

She added: "Angela was a nurse for 30 years and dealt with mental health patients.

"She was always really kind, funny and I miss her a lot, we were together for 37 years.

"I think she would be very proud of me and she knew I was always full of crazy ideas."
