Firefighters tackle blaze at Glasgow Golf Club in Bearsden

Around 70 firefighters have worked through the night tackling a blaze at a golf club.

Fire crews were called to the scene in Killermont Avenue, Bearsden where the Glasgow Golf Club is situated, at around 9.20pm on Thursday. Ten fire engines remained at the scene at 7am on Friday.

The B-Listed building was built is 1805 and the Club itself is the 9th oldest in the world.

There were no reports of any injuries, with around 70 firefighters and 10 appliances in attendance at the height of the blaze.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesman said: "SFRS were alerted at 9.20pm on Thursday to reports of a building on fire in Bearsden.

"Operations control mobilised a number of fire engines to Killermont Avenue where firefighters were met by a fire which had taken hold in a leisure facility.

"Firefighters currently remain on the scene."

Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed at 10am on Friday that operations were being scaled back.
