Baby loss charity box stolen from Barras street food vendor

Monster Munchies was broken into and the box holding donations to help parents who've lost a child was taken

A street food vendor from Glasgow is telling Clyde 1 News he is gutted, after a thief stole a baby loss charity box from his stall.

Monster Munchies is an Asian-inspired eatery located in the Barras Market.

On Saturday 19th October, police were made aware that the unit had been broken into.

Owner, Colin Jenkinson, revealed he was heartbroken to realise the baby loss retreat donations box had been taken.

The charity is close to his heart, having lost his own child at just three days old.

He said: "We were broken into and they stole a baby loss retreat charity box, which was basically full.

"It's something that's so close to my heart because we lost our baby at three days old, so it means a lot to us.

"When I saw the box was away, I was gutted, it spoiled by day.

"It's not a lot of money, but it's what it stands for - it's horrific."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12pm on Saturday, 19 October, 2024, we received a report of a break-in and theft at a premises in the Gallowgate area of Glasgow.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 quoting reference 1293 of 19 October, 2024.”
