Drivers are being warned one of the key road links between Glasgow, Renfrewshire and Ayrshire will be closed for roadworks at the end of this month and the start of February.

Resurfacing will be carried out on the A737 at Risk Brae – between the junction for Howwood and the Roadhead Roundabout (A760).

The works were supposed to take place before Christmas but were postponed following the rupture of a gas pipe, and poor weather.

Weekend closure

There will be full weekend when the road is closed between 8am on Friday 2nd February and 6am Monday 5th February.

In addition it will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am from Tuesday 30th January running until Tuesday 6th February, including the weekend-long blockade.

Diverted traffic

Through traffic will use a diversion route from the Linclive Interchange at Linwood, through Barrhead to Lugton and rejoining the A737 at Beith.

Amey Highways, which is carrying out the works for Transport Scotland, says it will allow emergency service vehicles through the worksite.

It also warns the project could be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
