Police are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of missing Ayrshire child Jamie Lee Harvey.

The 12-year-old from Ayr has been missing since last Tuesday and police believe she is still in Irvine.

Scotland's media were called to Irvine Police station in North Ayrshire today to repeat their appeal for public assistance in finding her.

Last sighting

The last confirmed sighting of Jamie Lee was a week ago when a member of her family saw her at Irvine Train station.

Prior to that, Jamie Lee had boarded the 3:25pm train from Ayr headed towards Glasgow, but after the sighting in Irvine, Police believe she's likely still in the area.

Possible Sighting

Chief Inspector Kevin Lammie told press that there was a possible sighting of Jamie Lee outside her School Irvine Royal Academy.

It is still to be confirmed, but it was around 7PM on Saturday March 18.

Description of Jamie Lee

Jamie-Lee is described as being 5ft tall, of medium build, with long light brown-coloured hair.

She was last seen wearing a black puffer jacket, black jumper, black leggings and black trainers.

Chief Inspector Lammie said they have nothing to suggest that Jamie Lee has come to any harm, but also added they believe she is without a phone or money.

He added: “Jamie-Lee may appear older than her years, however it remains the fact that she is 12 years old."

Police Investigation

Police are relying on the wider community of Irvine and North Ayrshire to assist them with their search for Jamie Lee.

Although Jamie Lee lives in Ayr, she is orginally from Irvine and still has strong connections with friends and family in the area as well as attending school there.

Chief Inspector Lammie said: “We have a team of officers dedicated to finding her and have been liaising daily with her family and speaking to friends as well as conducting extensive searches at addresses in the Ayr and Irvine areas, but so far, there has been no more information as to where she is.

“We want to stress that Jamie-Lee is not in any trouble. We don’t want her to worry about that, or not come back because she thinks she may be. We all just want to make sure she is safe and to come home.

“I would like anyone in North Ayrshire, particularly in Irvine, to report any sightings of her. You may have been in her company recently, but at the end of the day, she has been reported missing to police and it is not helping her if you don’t let police know where she is.

“All we and her family and friends want is for Jamie-Lee to return home safe and well.

“Please get in touch with police immediately to let us know where she is. Anyone with information should contact police via 101 quoting reference 2277 of Tuesday, March 14.”
