Ayrshire man to stand trial accused of the attempted murder of baby boy

A man is s to stand trial accused of trying to kill a baby boy.
Anthony Pickering is charged with carrying out the attack at a property in the Scottish Highlands on July 1 2023.
It is claimed the 29 year-old did shake the child or inflict trauma to his head "by means unknown".
The attempted murder charge states this was to the boy's permanent disfigurement and impairment as well as to the danger of his life.
Pickering's legal team pleaded not guilty on his behalf to the accusation at a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow today.
Lord Mulholland set a trial due to take place in April 2026.
Pickering, of Ardrossan, Ayrshire, remains on bail meantime.
