The clean up is underway in parts of Ayrshire this morning after flash flooding closed roads.

Some families were forced out of their homes with the water waist deep in parts.

An electricity sub-station in Shortlees was submerged in water with the area's power cut off as a precaution.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service brought in pumping equipment to help reduce water levels.

The A77 was also closed Southbound between Kilmarnock and Ayr.

Some local roads in Ayrshire were still affected by flooding on Monday morning but Police Scotland said the A77 was open.
