A brand-new initiative focused at supporting menopausal women return to work is being backed by a local Ayrshire business.

The Revive & Thrive initiative is jointly led by Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace and Ayr based, The People Portfolio, both experts in return-to-work programmes.

This comes after the Fawcett Society Report, released in 2022, revealed that one in four women in the UK considers leaving work because of menopause symptoms and one in ten actually does leave work.

Menopause symptoms can lead to physical pains, sleep problems, mood changes, and problems with memory or concentration. All valid reasons for women to have trouble in the workplace and need extra support from employers.

The Revive & Thrive programme works in partnership with Menopause Friendly Accredited employers, to reassure returners that their new employer is committed to supporting them as they make the decision to come back.

One of the Menopause Friendly Accredited employers working alongside this programme is OVO. Having completed the appropriate training with People Portfolio, OVO is looking to integrate ten women from the Glasgow area into their workforce.

Kirsteen Sommerville the Menopause Lead at OVO said: “We know about 50% of our people will experience menopause during their time at OVO, and we want to ensure they feel supported throughout.

“This is why we are thrilled to be a part of the Revive & Thrive programme that prepares women for stepping back into work and getting back into their stride.”

Revive & Thrive enhances workplace diversity and ensure women are upskilled and able to navigate work while experiencing menopause.

Morna Ronnie, the Founder of The People's Portfolio said: "OVO in Glasgow are piloting the programme and our participants will receive free coaching and workshops to prepare them for a guaranteed selection date with OVO.

"That support includes confidence building, CV and interview skills work, information on managing menopause symptoms and also things to think about when restarting your career after a break."
