The 19-year-old was reported missing from Saltcoats in May last year

A body recovered in Ayrshire has been confirmed as Jamie Cannon, who’d been missing from Saltcoats since May 2021.
Police said Jamie’s family had been informed of the discovery of a body in the Ardeer area of Stevenston on Saturday 26 February and formal identification has now been carried out.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Jamie’s disappearance last year sparked mass searches from both the community and police, with the support of specially trained dogs.
Speaking to Clyde 1 News at the time the 19-year-old’s cousin Leeanne Graham said: “We’ve been around Stevenston, Saltcoats, Irvine and down to Auchenharvie beach as well. There are still no sightings.
“Lots of friends and family have been sharing his photo. We now have a Facebook page too to help keep his picture out there and that has been so helpful to share posts.
“The family are worried sick and we just want Jamie home.”
A potential sighting of Jamie was investigated in Dumfries and Galloway last August, when a lorry driver reported seeing someone matching his description twice around the Cairnryan area.
But Police Scotland later confirmed the man he’d seen wasn’t Jamie.
Jamie’s family are being supported by officers, and have requested privacy while they come to terms with his death.
