"Aye Right!" Glasgow Greggs Worker Thought Armed Robbery Was A "Joke"
A BAKERY shop worker initially thought an armed robbery was a joke, a court heard. Agnes Cannon did not appear to believe Mark McColl as he held up the Greggs branch in Riddrie, Glasgow, last November. But, the 47 year-old and her colleague Shannon Minogue were left terrified when McColl brandished a knife. The 43 year-old eventually escaped with over £1,200 - but was soon caught after the getaway car was traced to his home. McColl will be sentenced next month after he pled guilty to an assault and robbery charge at the High Court in Glasgow. Miss Cannon was working last November 27 when McColl confronted her threatening: "Get in the back and give me your f** money." But, she replied: "Aye, right." However, McColl then said: "I have got a knife - hurry up." Miss Cannon and 25 year-old Miss Minogue were ordered into the back of shop before McColl escaped with the cash. When later arrested, the robber denied a clear CCTV image of the incident showed him. McColl was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on March 6 in Aberdeen.
