Attempted murder investigation launched after attack in Glasgow leaves man in critical condition
The 44-year-old was assaulted by two men in Tollcross in the early hours of Sunday
A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being subjected to a “very violent attack” in Glasgow, which police are treating as attempted murder.
The 44-year-old was walking along Tollcross Road, outside Tollcross Park in the east end of the city, at around 1am on Sunday when he was set upon by two men.
Police said the men repeatedly punched and kicked him in the head, leaving him with serious injuries.
He was taken by ambulance to the city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where staff describe his condition as critical.
His attackers ran off through Tollcross Park towards Wellshot Road.
Both are white and in their early 30s, with one wearing a white two-tone tracksuit top with light grey sleeves, light grey shorts and a black tammy hat.
The other wore a blue tracksuit top, grey tracksuit bottoms and black tammy hat.
Detective Inspector Greig Wilkie said: “This was a very violent attack, which has left the victim fighting for his life.
“We are still trying to establish the exact circumstances and motive for such a violent act and I ask anyone who has any information that could assist our investigation to contact police immediately.
“We know that two women assisted the injured man shortly after he was assaulted and it is vital that these women contact police urgently as they may be able to provide crucial information.”
