Armed men try to attack taxi driver and passengers in Glasgow.

Police said the black Hyundai i40 taxi was at the junction of Wilton Drive and Wilton Street in the city's west end when two men tried to attack the occupants with weapons on Wednesday.

Armed men have tried to attack a taxi driver and his two passengers in Glasgow.

Police said the black Hyundai i40 taxi was at the junction of Wilton Drive and Wilton Street in the city's west end when two men tried to attack the occupants with weapons.

They failed to gain access to the cab and the driver, 44, managed to drive off towards Raeberry Street before calling the police.

No-one was injured in the incident at about 8.45pm on Wednesday but the taxi was damaged.

The first suspect is white and in his 20s, about 5ft 9ins and of medium build.

The second suspect is black and aged around 20. He is 5ft 7ins and slim.

Both were wearing dark clothes and hats.

Detective Sergeant Thomas Carey said: Inquiries are ongoing to establish more details on the circumstances surrounding this incident and to trace the two men involved.

Luckily no-one was injured during this incident, however the taxi was damaged.''

He appealed to anyone with information about the incident to contact police on 101.
