Police have appealed for information after a man shouted abuse at a female train passenger and threw a bottle of beer at her.

The incident happened on December 22 when a group of men boarded a service at Anniesland, Glasgow, at around 5.25pm.

One of them approached the victim and started harassing her.

When he was getting off the train at Drumchapel he threw a bottle of beer which hit her on the shoulder.

The man then shouted sexual comments from the platform which police said caused the woman "great distress''.

British Transport Police described the man as white, in his late teens and around 5ft 10.

He was wearing a black beanie hat, black jogging top and bottoms and Air Max-style trainers.

A BTP spokesman said: "We will not stand for this kind of behaviour.

"If you have any information, please contact BTP by calling 0800 40 50 40 or texting 61016, with reference 434 of 22 December."
