Appeal for witnesses after serious sexual assault in Paisley

A woman was subjected to a serious sexual assault in Paisley Town Centre last night.

The 18-year-old was in the company of a man in the grass area at Meetinghouse Lane, Paisley between 7.00pm and 7.50pm on Thursday 1st June 2017 when she was seriously sexually assaulted by him. The woman then reported the incident to police a short time afterwards.

Detective Inspector David Wagstaff at Paisley CID said:

“My officers are following a definite line of enquiry however we are still viewing CCTV and are keen to speak to two women aged in their twenties who were seen talking to each other outside the entrance to the walled area around 7.40pm. It is vital that these women contact police at Paisley immediately as they may hold vital information that could assist our investigation.

“Anyone else who has any information is also asked to contact police at Paisley Police Station via 101 quoting incident number 3630 of 1 June. Alternatively calls can be made via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
