Appeal for witnesses after Glasgow newsagents robbed
Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a newsagents in Glasgow City Centre in the early hours of Sunday 20th August 2017.
Around 1:50am a man entered News Plus Newsagents in Renfrew Street and threatened staff, demanding money.
The man, who was in the company of another man, then left the premises with a cash register containing a three figure sum of cash and made off along Renfrew Street, towards Buchannan Bus Station.
Extensive enquiries are underway with officers examining CCTV footage and speaking to local businesses.
Police are keen to trace a man who was seen getting into a ‘Euro7’ style black hackney taxi around 0200 hours near to the junction of North Hanover Street and Bath Street.
The man was dropped off in Whitevale Street near to the junction with Duke Street around 2:10am.
The man is described as white, around 30 years old, and was wearing a dark coloured hooded jacket and grey tracksuit bottoms.
Detective Sergeant Scott McNulty from the Community Investigation Unit based at Govan said: 'Glasgow City Centre would have been busy around the time of the incident, with people making their way home from nights out.
The suspect was carrying a cash register, which is something people may have noticed, and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen him to please contact police.
'From our enquiries so far we understand that the suspect entered a taxi shortly after the incident took place and we are also looking to trace the driver as he may have vital information to assist with our investigation.
