Detectives investigating the attempted murder of a 37 year-old gangland figure have carried out a stop and search operation at the scene.

Steven Daniel - nephew of Jamie Daniel - was driving along Craighall Road just after midnight last Thursday when he was attacked, he was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries.

Police say they've spoken to around 100 people and the information is now being accessed.

Detective Inspector Jim Bradley said:

“The aim of this operation was to speak to members of the public who perhaps use this route on a regular basis, around this particular time, in the hope that they remember something which could assist our enquiries.

"We have spoken to more than 100 people and had received positive feedback. This information is now being assessed by officers on the inquiry team, with any relevant lines of enquiry being followed up.”

Detectives are still keen to hear from two people who were standing at traffic lights waiting to cross where Craighall Road meets the slip road onto the M8 and are appealing for these two people to contact them.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact officers at London Road police Station via 101, quoting reference number 0039 of 18 May 2017. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
