Appeal for witness after teenage girl abused on Larkhall to Balloch train

An appeal's been launched for a witness, after a teenage girl was verbally abused on the train between Larkhall and Balloch on Sunday night.

Police are keen to speak to a woman in her 40's with blonde hair and a purple top who asked if the youngster was alright.

The incident occurred around 10:20pm between Dumbarton East and Dumbarton Central.

A 34 year old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with the incident.

The witness is described as being in her 40s, with blonde hair tied back and she was wearing a purple top.

Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton from Clydebank CID said: “We understand that the woman was in the same carriage at the time the incident took place and spoke to the young girl involved to ask if she was ok.

“It is very important that we speak to this woman as she may have vital information to assist with this investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Clydebank CID via 101 and quote incident number 4642 of Sunday 30th July 2017.
