A man is recovering in hospital after he had a glass smashed over his head in a bar in Glasgow last night. The 22 year-old was in MacConnells in Hope Street and police say he'll be permanently scarred.

The suspect is described as white, late 20s to early 30s, medium to heavy build with short dark hair and a beard. He was wearing a grey jumper with white writing on the left side and a horizontal reflective stripe on the back. He was also wearing jeans and grey shoes.

Detective Constable Paul Houston from Stewart Street CID said: “Someone has deliberately thrown a glass across the room of a busy bar and struck the victim in the face. He will be permanently scarred as a result of this despicable act and it is absolutely vital that we trace the individual responsible.

“From CCTV enquiries we can see that the suspect was in the company of three or four other people and I would appeal to them directly to do the right thing and help us identify the perpetrator.

“I would also ask anyone who was within MacConnells last night and witnessed what happened to please get in touch.
