The Scottish SPCA is appealing to animal lovers in Glasgow to assist in bringing an injured and frightened dog to safety.

The animal charity says there have been several sightings of the male Rottweiler, named Archie, since he went missing two months ago but unfortunately no-one has been able to catch him.

Animal Rescue Officer Sarah Parker said, "Archie is a young dog around a year old.

"He's very skinny and has a possible gash in his back right leg, with a visible limp.

"Archie originally started at Avenue End Road in Stepps then moved down to Aberdalgie Road and was last spotted at the retail park in Robroyston.

"We are keen to raise awareness and get locals looking for Archie. His owner is beside herself and is out searching for him every day.

"People should firstly contact the dog warden if they spot him before updating us.

"However, if he is spotted in the evening when the dog warden is off duty they should call us.

"As Archie is so frightened, people should be wary if they do get close in case this results in aggressive behaviour."

Sightings of Archie should be reported to the dog warden at Glasgow City Council on 0141 284 2000 or the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
