Thieves have targeted a security guard delivering cash to a bank and made off with a five-figure sum.
The G4S worker was threatened by two men with weapons outside the Royal Bank of Scotland in Duke Street, Glasgow, on Friday.
They escaped with a cash box in the incident at around 2.30pm. The 51-year-old security guard was not hurt.
The suspects left the scene in a small silver coloured vehicle which was later set alight on Myreside Street in Glasgow.
Both suspects are described as being white males, around 5 ft 8 and of slim builds, with one wearing a black hooded top, black jogging trousers and a scarf covering his face. The other was wearing dark clothing and a dark hat.
Detective Sergeant Graham McCreadie said:
“This was a terrifying and dangerous attack which has left a man, who was only doing his job, traumatised. The suspects have then made off with a large sum of money and later set the car they made off in on fire.
“Following enquiries we know that from Myreside Street, they then got into a black coloured 4x4 vehicle.
“Officers are currently carrying out extensive enquiries, however we would ask that anyone who was near to the bank, anyone who may have seen either of the vehicles mentioned or anyone who has dash cam footage from that area to get in touch with police immediately.”
