Appeal following attempted murder in Govanhill
A man is recovering in hospital after he was attacked with a metal pole in Govanhill on Sunday evening.
A man is recovering in hospital after he was attacked with a metal pole in Govanhill on Sunday evening.
The 52 year old man was walking along Dixon Avenue with his partner when he was approached by another and assaulted - the woman was pushed to the ground.
Police are treating the incident as attempted murder.
It is understood that there were a number of members of the public in the area at the time, and the man was chased along the road by two people.
Emergency services attended and the victim was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Medical staff describe his condition as stable.
A 52 year old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are continuing.
Detective Sergeant Keith Runcie from Cathcart CID said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Dixon Avenue and witnessed the incident to please get in touch.
“In particular I would like to speak to the two people who chased the man along the street as well as any motorists with dash-cams who were in the area and may have captured footage of significance to the investigation.
