Appeal after armed raid on Rutherglen shop
A shopkeeper in Rutherglen's been assaulted by an armed robber during a raid earlier this morning.

A man wearing a balaclava demanded money from staff at the store on Hamilton Road around half past 10 before threatening them with what appeared to be a firearm.
He made off with a 2 figure sum of cash
The suspect is described as white, aged 20-25 years of age, around 5 ft. 11 inches in height, with a medium build. He was wearing a grey coloured Adidas top, grey coloured tracksuit trousers with black trainers with a white sole. He was also wearing a black balaclava in an effort to conceal his identity. The suspect made off up with a two-figure sum of money and ran off up Hamilton Road onto Gallowflat Street.
Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries and gathering up CCTV footage for review.
Detective Inspector Colin Campbell said:
“I am appealing for any information on the suspect or the incident. The shop is well used by members of the local community. I’m sure many people will have been out and about at the time of the incident and may have seen the suspect prior to, or following the incident. If you have any information or knowledge about the suspect or the incident, please contact us.”
