The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after two rabbits were found abandoned in Govanhill in Glasgow.

They were alerted by a member of the public on 17th May after the rabbits were spotted in a communal back garden.

Animal rescue officer Stacey Erwin said, “The rabbits were running loose in a rather hazardous communal back garden in the Govanhill area. The garden was full of debris such as old mattresses and rubbish.

“The member of the public who notified us said that up until last week they had been kept in a cage in the back garden which has now been removed, so they might have been released deliberately.

“These rabbits are very lucky to have been spotted as they could have been easily missed among the rubbish or escaped from the garden.

“Both rabbits are now being cared for at one of our centres. They appear to be in good health but we are keen to trace the owners.

“If anyone in the area has any information, we would urge you to call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999."
