Detectives in Inverclyde are appealing for information following a robbery and assault in Greenock.

Around 10pm on Thursday, 4 August, 2022, a 20-year-old man was assaulted and had personal belongings stolen from him by a group of males in a lane between Kilcreggan View and Clynder Road.

The man was taken hospital for treatment to injuries.

The suspects are thought to left the area in a black car.

Extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Rebecca Cox, of Greenock CID, said: "The victim has been left shaken by this incident and we are appealing for information to help trace those involved.

"We believe the suspects were travelling in a black car and would ask anyone who was in the area at the time, and who witnessed the incident, or saw a black vehicle, to contact officers.

"We are also keen to hear from anyone with potential private CCTV, dashcam or video doorbell footage.

"Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that can assist with our investigation should contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3699 of Thursday, 4 August, 2022.

"Alternatively, a call can be made anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
